Shirley 11kV cable upgrades
Strengthening our power network
We’re upgrading our electricity infrastructure in Shirley to ensure a reliable and resilient power network.
Between September - late November, we'll be working on several streets in Shirley to install new 11kV underground power cables. The cable will be primarily installed in the footpath and berm.
We're currently working along Warrington Street, Warden Street and Petrie Street. Please follow all signs and instructions from our crew.

Why we're doing this work
Some of the existing underground power cables in aging and becoming more difficult to repair when faults occur. Replacing these cables and installing new power cables will improve network capacity and reliability in the area and accommodate future growth and demand for electricity.
Traffic management
To do this work safely, traffic management will be in place. The traffic management setup will vary where we're working and the type of work we're doing. Please follow all signs and instructions from our crew.
Property access
During the day, vehicle access to properties on the side of the road where we are working may be temporarily restricted while we trench past. We’ll place steel plates over the trench, so residents and businesses can access the property when we’re not working.
Hours of work
The crews will generally work during the day between the hours of 7am - 6pm Monday to Friday. Nightworks may be used during this project in specific areas, we may also need to do early morning or weekend work at times.
