GXP - ICP based pricing

We are seeking feedback on Orion's change from GXP to ICP based pricing.

Orion is proposing to transition from GXP based billing to ICP based billing from 01 April 2025.

The drivers for this change are:

  • Electricity retailers have signaled a strong preference for ICP billing
  • ICP billing is strongly aligned to the Electricity Authority's pricing principles
  • ICP billing is best practice and aligns with other electricity distribution businesses
  • It gives greater operational efficiency across our systems and processes
  • It offers greater flexibility with more customer-specific prices allowing stronger incentives for load management
  • It gives greater visibility of individual ICP usage, and allows for more consistent and accurate reporting

GXP to ICP migration

Our ICP’s, currently set at GXP based prices, will be migrated onto the equivalent new ICP-based price categories from 01 April 2025.

We will have controlled and uncontrolled variable charges from 01 April 2025.

We held an online engagement session with electricity retailers in May 2024 to outline our proposal to transition to ICP billing.

Have your Say

We are keen to ensure a smooth transition from GXP to ICP billing and want to understand what we can do to make this transition efficient.

We would appreciate it if you review the presentation slide deck and complete a short survey to provide your feedback.
